We all know that a new year means new inspiration; a look at what’s fresh, unexpected, and exciting in the year to come. In 2023, we’re seeing a lot of inspiring design trends – many taking a different direction from previous years.
We are also seeing the implications of global events being reflected in the design industry. Recycling of products and making them new again, the use of earthy tones and a celebration of craftsmanship focus on reducing waste and highlighting quality design and products. We’re excited to share with you some of our favourite upcoming trends and hope inspire you to incorporate them in your home this year.
Earth Tones
We’re so excited about this colour trend. Earth tones in the home are so calming and beautiful. The 2023 earth tones are all about muted shades and give off a bohemian vibe like non-other. Think terracotta pots, rusty, burnt yellows and shades of plum. There are easy and elegant ways to incorporate these colours into your home either by the paint on the walls or as accents dotted throughout the home.
Old is New
Upcycled furniture is always on trend, some would say, as long as it’s done properly. This year, we’re seeing an even bigger focus on reusing furniture throughout the home. There’s a heightened interest in vintage finds, creative new ways to reuse items throughout the home and transforming tired units into something completely different. Utilizing local garage sales, thrift shops and even your local buy and sell will set you up for success this year.
Master Craftsmanship
This year there’s a big focus on handmade products or items that have master craftsmanship. Think La Cornue. These ranges are made by experts, each one individual and thoughtfully crafted. Not all of us are lucky enough to have a La Cornue in our home, but there’s easier ways to seek out beautifully made products. Tradeshows and craft shows are a great way to find unique items, ones that are made by people who excel at their craft – rather than ones made by manufacturing plants.
Splashes of Bold Colour
Benjamin Moore’s Colour of the Year is Raspberry Blush and it is a B O L D colour. It’s not for everyone and it definitely takes talent to incorporate a bold shade into your home. If you love this colour but don’t know where to start, you can always consult a design expert, or start small. Add things like vases, blankets, even accent carpets that highlight this colour into different rooms of your home. We are seeing beige and white home décor fall by the wayside in 2023, and are enjoying bursts of bold colour throughout spaces, even in kitchens. If you’re looking for a different way to add colour to your home, check out the Samsung Bespoke Collection or KitchenAid for bright colours to give your kitchen a pop.
Trends come and go, but we're always looking forward to seeing what a new year will bring. This year has some beautiful and different trends than what we usually expect and we're excited to see them utilized in the design industry throughout 2023.
